Seawolves finish the season in the elite 8.

Facing off against the #3 ranked Ohio University Bobcats, the Seawolves wanted to make an impact from the opening shift. However, early in the first period the Bobcats were able to capitalize on a Stony Brook mistake to give them a 1-0 lead. Great goaltending from freshman goaltender, Payne Yoder held the Bobcats to the lone goal, finishing off the first period. After making some adjustments in between periods the Seawolves came out flying but could not break through the Bobcat goaltender. Halfway through the period the Bobcats scored on a deflection to give them a 2-0 lead. Stony Brook was able to breakthrough in the final minutes of the period when senior forward, Chris Stemke found the back of the net on the power-play to make the score 2-1. Mid way through the third period the Seawolves were able to score again on the power-play from a blistering slap-shot from junior defenseman Frank Coscia after a great feed from JT Hall to tie the game at two. With less than five minutes remaining in the game the Bobcats scored shorthanded goal which was originally called no call but after video review, the call on the ice was overturned. Stony Brook went on to lose by a final of 3-2. We want to thank the eight graduating Seniors, athletic trainer Jodi Darnell, and assistant coach Wes Hawkins for their hard work throughout their time as a Seawolf and wish them luck in their future endeavors. We hope to see all of you back for the 2017-2018 season. Let’s go Seawolves!
