Seawolves drop two to NYU in heartbreaking fashion

This past weekend your 14th ranked Stony Brook Seawolves took on the NYU Violets with a home and home matchup. Friday night the Stony Brook Seawolves traveled to Chelsea Piers with the hope of bouncing back after a weekend off. Stony Brook had a 4-2 lead in the third period, however the Violets were able to rally and tie the game forcing the teams to face off in a five minute over time. 53 seconds into the 3-on-3 action, NYU forward Scott Mulligan was able to sneak one past Stony Brook goalie Richard Shipman to seal the overtime victory. On Saturday the teams met again at the Rinx for the Seawolves senior night. After falling down 3-0 early in the game, Stony Brook rallied and tied the game 4-4 by the second period with goals from Frank Coscia (2), Charles Peck, and Brendan Calello. The game moved into overtime, and Stony Brook looked to win it in extra time. After a scoreless five minutes, the game would be decided in a shootout. NYU came out on top, and the Seawolves fell short of splitting the weekend and look to bounce back next weekend as they take on the URI Rams at the Boss Ice Arena.
