This past weekend your 11th ranked Seawolves traveled west to take on the 8th ranked University of Ohio Bobcats. In game one, Friday night Stony Brook jumped off to a quick start by putting two goals behind the Ohio net minder in the first period. However the Seawolves sloppy play in the second period led to the two teams heading into the third period tied at two. At the end of regulation Stony Brook and Ohio had skated to a 4-4 tie, forcing the game into overtime. Two minutes into OT the Bobcats won the game with a shot from the point beating sophomore goalie Payne Yoder.
Due to injury from Friday night’s game the Seawolves found themselves without top forwards and line mates Devon Palmieri and Ori Benyamini. Ohio was all over Stony Brook in the first period, however the Seawolves only found themselves down 1-0 after the first period. The two teams exchanged goal for goal in regulation forcing another game to be decided in overtime. The first shift into OT Stony Brook Captain Frank Sherding found forward Brad Riccardi backdoor for the game winner. Pushing the Seawolves pass the Bobcats 3-2.
Stony Brook’s next home games are this Saturday at 8:30pm and Sunday at 3:30pm against division opponent the University of Delaware Blue Hens. Come down and cheer on your Seawolves!
