After an exciting come-from-behind finale to the regular season against the UNLV Rebels last weekend, the Seawolves will head to West Chester, Pennsylvania this Saturday to begin their post season schedule.
While their opponent will not be determined until after the conclusion of the first round of the ESCHL playoffs on Friday night, the Seawolves’ semifinal game will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at the Ice Line Quad Rinks. This will be the second straight year that playoffs will be held in the facility.
Stony Brook enters the weekend in the League’s No. 2 slot, behind only Liberty. Recent history should give the Seawolves an edge against all five ESCHL opponents. The team finished with a 13-5-2 record against the League in 2018-19 including a 9-1-0 record in the second half. Stony Brook also won or tied its season series with all five ESCHL teams.
The team will look to continue the well-distributed offensive production that has hallmarked the second half. Junior forward Nick Belger led Stony Brook in scoring with 52 points on the campaign but all lines and defensive pairs have chipped in throughout the past 14 games. The Seawolves’ goaltenders have also put forth impressive efforts, contributing to key wins down the stretch.
If the Seawolves win their semifinal matchup Saturday night, they will advance to their eighth consecutive ESCHL Championship Game on Sunday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m.
