The Seawolves traveled to West Chester, PA this past weekend to face divisional opponent, the West Chester Golden Rams. After coming out to a sluggish start it was not until late in the first period when junior defenseman, Frank Sherding found the back of the net to put the Seawolves ahead 1-0. The second period the Stony Brook was held scoreless and the Golden Rams were able to tie the game at 1. Finding their gear in the third period, the Seawolves were able to score two goals in 3 minutes. First it was forward Eddie Osowski and then it was the Captain, JT Hall to find the back of the net. To put the final nail in the coffin Chris Stemke buried a great feed from Hall to make it a final score of 4-1. The “Hard Hat” player of the game went to defenseman, Frank Sherding who continued his point streak to 7 games.
The next day Stony Brook focused on having a better start to their game and that’s exactly what they did. It was an offensive explosion during the first period with goals coming from Sherding, Stemke, Hall, and new comer to the Seawolves freshman, Kevin Murphy getting his first goal as a Seawolf. StonyBrook kept up the pressure in the second period spending the majority of the time in the Golden Rams zone. They were able to add two more goals in the second period by freshman Devon Palmieri and Murphy with his second of the game. Stony Brook ended with a final score of 7-0 with the last one coming from Hall after a great feed from Osowski who had 3 assists on the day. The “hard hat” player of the game was awarded to freshman, Kevin Murphy with two goals. Next weekend the Seawolves face another division rival, the University of Delaware Blue Hens at home at 8:30pm Saturday night and 3:30pm on Sunday. Saturday night’s game is to support K-9 companions and Sunday’s game is to honor the League of Yes. Reminder all games are played at the Rinx in Hauppauge NY, 660 terry road. Go Seawolves!
