This past weekend #9 Stony Brook took on divisional opponent #22 Syracuse University. Saturday’s game was tough and hard fought with Stony Brook coming out with a 5 – 3 victory after a late empty net goal by Devon Palmieri. Key factors to this win were dominant performances by forwards Ori Benyamini, who notched 1G and 2A, Brendan Calello with 4A, Devon Palmieri with 2G and 2A, defensemen Frank Sherding with 2A and goaltender Payne Yoder. Stony Brook hoped to continue their momentum into Sunday’s game; however the second game did not end so well for Stony Brook. They gave up 4 goals and only scored 2 from forward Joseph Slevin and defenseman Brendan Pepe. This weekend’s split with Syracuse was just the beginning for the tough games ahead as Stony Brook takes on Adrian this upcoming weekend; who is looking to continue their undefeated season thus far. The #9 ranked Seawolves will square off against the #1 team in the country, Adrian College at the Rinx in Hauppauge Saturday night at 8:30pm and Sunday afternoon at 12 noon. During Saturday’s game Stony Brook will be raising money and bringing attention to the Wounded Warrior Project. Sunday afternoon’s game the Seawolves will be raising money for the Angela’s House foundation. Come down to cheer on your Seawolves and support two great causes. Go Seawolves!!
