This past weekend the Seawolves swept their weekend series against division opponent the University of Rhode Island Rams. Friday night’s game the Rams came out firing on all cylinders and put the pressure on the Seawolves. However, Stony Brook was able to weather the storm and led 3-2 going into the third period. Stony Brook freshmen, Ian Bernes and Joe Slevin combined for three goals in the third period giving Stony Brook the 6-3 win. Saturday night’s game Stony Brook was back on their heels early as the Rams scored off of a deflection early in the first period. The Seawolves freshmen had an impact on this game as well when rookie forward Keith O’Brien tied the game at one a piece with one of his two goals of the game. Freshman, Joe Slevin and sophomore Kevin Murphy put Stony Brook up 4-1 going into the third. The Rams would make one more push but it would not be enough as the Seawolves would go on to win the game 4-2. Stony Brook now ranked 8th in the country heads to Ohio this weekend to take on the #5 ranked Ohio Bobcats. The Seawolves next home games will be Saturday October 28th at 8:30pm and Sunday October 29th at 3:30pm against the University of Delaware.
