Chris Garofalo has been the program’s General Manager since 1996-97 and Head Coach since 2010-11. A fixture of Stony Brook Hockey for over three decades, he has been a large reason why the team has become one of the most dominant non-varsity college hockey programs in the country. Chris, also known as the “nuts and bolts” of the team, does all of the recruiting, scheduling, and organizing that the team requires during the season in addition to coaching. Since becoming head coach in 2010, Chris has led the team to 4 consecutive ESCHL Championships in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, a fifth championship in 2022, and eight total championship game appearances. Chris’ Seawolves have been perennial ACHA National Tournament contenders. The team was Runner Up in 2015, Semifinalists in 2014 and 2016, and Quarterfinalists in 2017 & 2022. Chris played for the team from 1992 to 1996, compiled over 100 career points, and was selected to the Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference all-star team in his senior year. Chris was born in Portland, Maine and lived there for one year before his family moved to Long Island. He played hockey for Farmingdale High School and the Junior Islanders. Chris received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Stony Brook University in May 1996 and took a job with Computer Associates upon graduation, where he worked until 2003. He is currently a Human Capital Management District Sales Manager for Automatic Data Processing (ADP) and lives in Lake Grove, NY with his wife and two daughters.
