We are now one step closer to puck drop on the 2019-20 Stony Brook Hockey season with the full schedule released.

The No. 12 Seawolves will play a highly competitive 33-game regular season slate, which kicks off with a home opener against the ACHA M2 Select Team on Saturday, September 28 at The Rinx in Hauppauge. The game will begin at 5:00 p.m. All games following the home opener will be against DI opponents, including 20 games against Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League schools.

The ESCHL matchups will provide some big storylines, beginning with a pair of home games against Delaware on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13. The Blue Hens swept the Seawolves in two games last December at The Rinx, so expect a strong effort from the home team as they set the record straight.

Two weeks later the Rhode Island Rams come to Long Island on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. Rhode Island brought Stony Brook’s six-game winning streak to an end and handed the Seawolves their only loss in the final 10 games of the 2018-19 season. Look for Stony Brook to recapture that hot streak against the Rams.

The Seawolves will host the No. 3 Adrian Bulldogs on Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10. This will be the third straight year that the teams will face off. Though the Bulldogs have gotten the best of the Seawolves with a 4-1 record in the previous two seasons, last year’s games in Michigan were both close and exciting matchups. You won’t want to miss this clash between two ACHA titans.

This will also be the third straight year that Stony Brook plays a pair of home-and-home series with NYU. The teams will meet at Chelsea Piers on Friday, November 22 before shifting the series back to Long Island on Saturday, November 23. This will repeat to end the regular season on February 28 at Sky Rink and February 29 at The Rinx.

On Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26, the Seawolves will kick off the second half of their home schedule when they host an ESCHL rival, the No. 8 Liberty Flames. The teams split their four-game season series in 2018-19, including a shootout thriller at The Rinx to begin the Seawolves’ spectacular second half. There is never a dull moment when these teams play so mark your calendars now.

Stony Brook then goes on the road for two weeks before returning home to host the 2019 ESCHL Champion Syracuse Orange. The Seawolves owned a 3-0-1 record against the Orange during the regular season but fell victim to an overtime comeback when the two met again in the Semifinals. Be there when these two ESCHL powerhouses face off.

There will also be quite a few interesting matchups on the road this year, beginning with two games against UNLV in Las Vegas on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7. The Seawolves upset the then No.-11-ranked Rebels in the last weekend of the 2018-19 season. Now the teams will play a rematch in the desert.

After winter break, the team will go back on the road for a set against No. 2 Michigan Dearborn. After dropping both games at home to the Wolverines, the Seawolves will look to settle the score on Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20.

Stony Brook will also travel to Ohio for a weekend against the Ohio Bobcats on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8. This will be the first time the two face off since the Fall of 2017.

After finishing their regular season against NYU, the Seawolves will head to West Chester, PA for the ESCHL Playoffs. The tournament will be held at the Ice Line Quad Rinks for the third consecutive season from Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8. Stony Brook’s Playoff schedule will be determined at the end of the regular season and consist of anywhere between one and three games.

If Stony Brook qualifies for its seventh straight ACHA National Tournament, the team will travel to Frisco, TX for up to five games. A schedule will be determined in March with possible game dates between Thursday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 25.
