After a great Thanksgiving break your 13th ranked Seawolves hit the road to play division rival the 17th ranked Delaware Blue Hens. Coming out to a slow start in the first period the Seawolves found themselves behind 1-0 after giving up a power play goal halfway through the period. However, after regrouping in between periods the Seawolves found their second gear to spark the offense. Goals came from Callelo, Stemke and Benyamini. After the period the Seawolves led 3-2 having one of the best periods as a team thus far in the season. Unfortunately the Seawolves lost the lead giving up two goals, blowing another third period lead falling to Delaware 4-3.
Coming into the second game the Seawolves had to battle through adversity from the start with the absence of their first line forwards, junior Ori Benyamini and Captain J.T. Hall who suffered injuries in Friday night’s game. Early into the first period Delaware scored to take the lead. A few minutes later, after a very questionable call, the Seawolves top defenseman, Frank Sherding was ejected after receiving a five minute major and a game misconduct. After the first period the Seawolves were down 3-1 with a goal coming from Senior forward Chris Stemke. Luckily for the Seawolves the second period has been known to be their best and they cut the lead to 4-3 with goals coming from Brendan Callelo and Mike Kowicki. After blowing the third period lead Friday night the Seawolves hoped to get revenge on the Blue Hens. The third period got off to a great start with an early goal coming from Stemke, the Seawolves were tied. Delaware was quick to strike back scoring two goals which was enough to hold on to the win. The Seawolves fell again to the Blue Hens 6-5. Stony Brook hopes to get back on the winning track as they take on a home- and-home this weekend against the unranked Drexell University Dragons. The Seawolves are home Saturday December 12th at 8:30pm. All games are played at the Rinx in Hauppauge, 660 Terry road.
