This past weekend Stony Brook took the first two games of a four game season series against division rival, Delaware University. In the first game on Saturday night the Seawolves had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way to a 5-0 win. Joseph Bochichio had two goals and one assist to lead the way for Stony Brook. Bochichio scored the first of his two goals at 5:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0. Bochichio’s next tally made the score 4-0 with 8:52 left in the second period, Andrew Cetola provided the assist. The Seawolves also got points from Frank Coscia, who also tallied one goal and one assist, JT Hall and Frank Sherding, who each scored a goal. In addition, Justin Lazalde, Eddie Osowski, Brendan Calello, and Tyler Underhill also tallied assists for the Seawolves. Derek Willms recorded 22 saves for the Seawolves as he cruised to his first shutout of the season.
On Sunday afternoon the Blue Hens could not hold down the Seawolves, as they erased a two-goal deficit enroot to a 3-2 win. Stony Brook never led in the game until netting the game. They fell behind 2-0 after a shorthanded goal by Blue Hen John Redgate at 12:26 in the first period. Stony Brook tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Brian Boser at 17:53 in the second period and the the game winner at 18:51 in the second period on a goal by Tyler Underhill. Also getting on the scoresheet was Justin Lazalde with a goal and assists from Brendan Calello, JT Hall, and Frank Coscia. Seawolves goalie, Todd Scarola made 20 saves for the Seawolves on 22 shots.
Stony Brook heads into the second half of the season with an 18-2 record and ranked 4th in the country. Their next opponent will be 20th ranked Liberty University on Saturday January 9th at 8:30pm and Sunday January 10th at 3:30pm at home.
