Stony Brook traveled south this weekend to finish the season sweep against division opponent the University of Delaware. Saturday night’s game Todd Scarola was superb between the pipes for the Seawolves, as he didn’t allow a goal on 31 shots in a 3-0 victory over the Blue Hens. Stony Brook was paced by Frank Coscia, who scored 4:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0. Other Seawolves contributing to the scoring included John Defeo on the power play and Tyler Underhill, on a back door pass from captain JT Hall. Stony Brook’s penalty kill was superb, allowing no goals on four Delaware power plays.
Sunday afternoon’s game was tight through 60 minutes, but in the end the Seawolves emerged with a 6-4 win. The Seawolves got the go ahead goal by Michael Cartwright 7:29 into the third period and stayed strong through the final buzzer. Much like the night before Stony Brook stifled the Blue Hens power play not allowing a single goal while down a man. Other Seawolves who tallied points were forward Brendan Calello, with a goal and two assists, Justin Lazalde, Brian Boser, Frank Sherding who tallied a goal apiece and captain JT Hall, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Goalie, Todd Scarola made 17 saves on 21 shots.
The Seawolves will hit the ice at home this Saturday night at 8:30pm and Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm against Rutgers University at the Rinx, 660 Terry rd. Hauppauge, NY. Saturday night the Seawolves will be raising money for the Guide Dog Foundation and Sunday is St. Patrick’s Church Youth Day. Come down to cheer on the Seawolves and support two great causes. Go Seawolves!!
