The Seawolves opened the 2018-2019 season this past weekend at home against the William Paterson Pioneers. Saturday night, Stony Brook forward Devon Palmieri tallied the first goal of the season while on the power play. Defenseman Frank Coscia picked up right where he left off last year, scoring his first goal of the season and getting an assist on the first goal of the game. Sophomore defenseman Kyle Huhn was Stony Brook’s star of the game with two goals on the night. In net for the Seawolves was Junior goalie, Richard Shipman stopping sixteen out of the eighteen shots he faced. Stony Brook went on to win the game 4-2 with an empty net goal.
The weekend sweep was completed Sunday afternoon in a decisive 9-0 win with goals from the newest Seawolves defenseman Joe O’Buck and forward Nick Belger who posted two goals and two assists. Senior, Brad Riccardi contributed to the scoring with two goals of his own. Seawolves star of the game went to goalie Richard Shipman stopping all 29 shots he faced and earned the first shutout of the 2018-2019 season. The Seawolves will take on Rutgers University this upcoming weekend. Friday night Stony Brook will travel to Rutgers and Saturday night, October 13th at 8:30pm the Seawolves will host Rutgers at the Rinx in Hauppage.
