This past Saturday Stony Brook completed the weekend sweep against the Syracuse Orangemen. Even though the Seawolves struck first on Friday night, it took them the first period to find their legs and really get going. The game came down to the wire at the end of the third period but the Seawolves were able to hang on for the 3-2 win. Stony Brook’s Player of the game went to stand out rookie forward Matt Crockett for his stellar defensive play, blocking six shots and scoring his first goal of the year to tie the game.
The second game Stony Brook started out slow but would pour on the pressure and never looked back as they toppled the Orangemen 9-1. Leading the scoring for the Seawolves was Senior forward Tyler Underhill with a hat-trick and Assistant Captain Andrew Cetola with three assists. Stony Brook coaches were also happy to see four of their new recruits tally their first goal of the season. However the Player of the game went to goalie, Todd Scarola with 33 saves.
Stony Brook’s next games will be their home opener. They will host division rival the University of Rhode Island Rams.
