Stony Brook Hockey officially closed the book on the 2023-24 season with the team’s annual year-end dinner on April 7.
Seven Seawolves received honors at the event, six of whom will return for the 2024-25 campaign. The award winners are:
- Garth Swanson (D) – Academic Excellence Award
- Andrew Mancini (D) – Bill Misa Team Service Award
- Scott Barnikow (G) – Most Improved Player
- Justin Nakagawa (F) – Rookie of the Year
- Frank Anastasio (F) – Pete Hall Hard Hat Award (Offense)
- Owen Larson (D) – Pete Hall Hard Hat Award (Defense)
- James Kozicki (F) – Bob Lamoureux Most Valuable Player Award
The MVP Award, named after former head coach and general manager Bob Lamoureux, has been awarded to the player(s) voted most valuable by his peers for over three decades. This was Kozicki’s first time winning the award
“It means the absolute world to me,” Kozicki said in an address to his teammates. “It’s an honor, I love you guys so much. We’ve got a big offseason coming up, we’ve got to get to work. I believe, let’s go boys.”
