Seawolves improve to 4-0 with dominant sweep of Delaware

The Seawolves lit the lamp 13 times this past weekend against Delaware, sweeping the Blue Hens and improving to 4-0-0 to start the season.

Delaware scored first in Saturday night’s game, but Stony Brook had an answer for the early deficit. Freshman forward Michael Conlin evened the score with five minutes left in the opening period, tallying his first goal as a Seawolf. Conlin found the back of the net again in the second period, knotting the game up at 3-3. He wasn’t the only freshman to score their first in the game, as forward Devin Pepe joined in on the scoring in the second period.

Junior forward Keith O’Brien and sophomore forward Dustin Rinaldo both scored to give the Seawolves a 5-4 lead after two periods, and senior forward Nick Belger and junior forward Aiden Boehm added to the offensive explosion in the third to complete the 7-4 victory.

Sunday’s game was a dominant effort from start to finish. Belger put the Seawolves on the board midway through the first period and gave the home team a lead it would never surrender. Junior forward Chuckie Peck doubled the lead to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes. Conlin scored his third of the weekend during the second period in between a pair of goals by Rinaldo, putting Stony Brook up 5-0. While the Blue Hens managed to score one goal in each of the second and third periods, the Seawolves remained in control and delivered a final blow with O’Brien’s second of the season to take a 6-2 win and a weekend sweep.
