Stony Brook, NY – Stony Brook Hockey ushered in a New Era Sunday with the announcement of major changes for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The Seawolves’ strong group of returning players combined with an influx of talented, young additions will lead the way in the New Era on the ice. After a campaign in which the team struggled to remain healthy, Head Coach Chris Garofalo looks forward to beginning the upcoming season with a clean slate and refreshed lineup.
“We worked really hard to improve our talent level for next year,” Garofalo said. “Based on who we have coming in, this will be one of the best groups of incoming players we have ever had.”
The Seawolves will take the ice in redesigned primary jerseys this fall for the first time since 2012. This uniform update comes one year following the introduction of the team’s navy third jersey, which will remain a part of the program’s collection next season. The new home and away jerseys will be unveiled on social media later this offseason.
Improving the fan experience will be a focal point of the 2024-25 season. Key elements of the New Era include an enhanced home-game experience, greater access to team merchandise, and a redesigned website. Further details about these initiatives and more will be announced in the coming months.
“This is a huge step in the right direction for the program,” Assistant Captain Andrew Mancini said. “Nobody was happy with the results last year and I think this is a good stepping stone to move forward. A big focus for me this year is having a really good culture that translates well onto the ice and, from what I’ve seen so far, I’m super excited.”
While looking ahead to the future, Stony Brook will also honor its previous eras throughout the 2024-25 season. The recent formation of the Stony Brook Hockey Alumni Association will help many former players reestablish their connection to the team. The Seawolves will also host multiple ‘Eras Nights’ at home games during the season, celebrating many achievements from throughout the program’s 55 years.
The Seawolves 2024-25 schedule will be released early this summer. To receive news and updates about Stony Brook Hockey, be sure to subscribe to our email newsletter and follow our team on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube.
