Stony Brook Hockey announced today, June 5, the team’s official schedule for the 2023-24 campaign. The Seawolves will open their 29-game regular season with a pair of games against the Oswego State Lakers at The Rinx, with the Home Opener scheduled for Saturday, October 7 at 8:30 p.m.
Stony Brook enters the season ranked No. 18 in the American Collegiate Hockey League Division I and looks to qualify for the program’s 14th National Tournament since moving up to DI in the 2007-08 season. The Seawolves will return to The Rinx in Hauppauge for all of this season’s 14 home games following over $5 Million in renovations to the facility.
Full Season Ticket Memberships will be available once again during the 2023-24 season. Memberships will include Premium Locker Room Access, a Members Only Pre-Season Scrimmage, Special Access to Seawolves Merchandise, and other perks to be announced. Memberships will cost $100 each and will be available for purchase this Sunday, June 11 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at The Rinx Grand Reopening. The Seawolves will face off against Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League opponents 22 times throughout the regular season, including four games against the 2023 ESCHL Champion Pittsburgh Panthers. Last season the Seawolves split their regular-season series with the Panthers before falling to Pitt in the ESCHL Semifinal game.
The schedule also features a season-high six games against the Niagara Purple Eagles. Niagara, an ESCHL Finalist in 2023, comes into the season ranked No. 10 in the nation.
On Saturday, October 21 Stony Brook will play on the road against the Manhattanville Valiants of the NCAA DIII. This matchup will mark the second meeting between the two programs, after Stony Brook beat Manhattanville last season at The Rinx to earn the program’s first win against an NCAA opponent.
The Seawolves will also renew their rivalry with the No. 5 Liberty Flames throughout the regular season, with the teams playing a total of four times against each other. Stony Brook will travel to Virginia for a two-game series in November before hosting Liberty for a pair of games on Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28.
The regular season will finish at home against the NYU Violets on Saturday, February 17. The ESCHL Playoff Tournament will be held the following weekend at the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston, PA where Stony Brook will attempt to capture the program’s 14th league championship. Two weeks later, the ACHA National Tournament will return to the Centene Community Ice Centre in St. Louis, MO.
