Seawolves fall to Bulldogs, but look forward to Niagara.

This past weekend the Seawolves headed to Michigan to take on the 10th ranked, Adrian Bulldogs. Friday night Stony Brook’s power play led the way, scoring two of the Seawolves three goals. A mistake by the Seawolves late in the second period led to a Bulldogs goal making it 3-2 Stony Brook going into the third period. With six minutes left in the game, Adrian tied the game on an odd man rush which forced the game into overtime. The Seawolves were unable to capitalize on the power play late in OT which forced the game in to a shootout. The shootout went six rounds with Adrian outlasting Stony Brook.
Saturday night’s game went back and forth before the Bulldogs opened up the scoring with less than a minute left in the second period. The long bus ride and short rest between games seemed to get the best of the Seawolves as they were extremely sluggish in the third period and were held to no goals; the final score, Adrian 4 to Seawolves 0.
Head Coach Garofalo stated after this weekend’s games “The coaching staff and the team are not happy with the outcome of this past weekend, but we have learned from our mistakes and these results will be reflected in our future games. Playing against a good team like Adrian, our freshman now know what it’s going to take to compete against top teams in the country. We have Niagara this weekend and that’s where our focus is.”
The Seawolves will hit the ice at home this Saturday night at 8:30pm and Sunday afternoon at 12:00 noon against Niagara University at the Rinx, 660 Terry rd. Hauppauge, NY.
