Game one on Friday, February 21st was a 6-3 win for the Seawolves, who never trailed in either game. Sophomore forward Dustin Rinaldo scored the first two goals for Stony Brook, giving the team a 1-0 lead and recapturing the lead after Rhode Island tied the game 1-1. Senior forward Kevin Murphy and freshman defenseman Davin Van de Zilver each tallied a goal midway through the second period, but a pair of Rhode Island goals decreased Stony Brook’s lead to just 4-3 at the second intermission. In the third, junior forward Joey Slevin and freshman forward Luke Damiano put the Rams’ comeback attempt to rest, giving the Seawolves a 6-3 lead which held until the end of regulation.

The captain kicked off the scoring in Saturday’s game on February 22nd. Murphy and junior forward Chuckie Peck accounted for the other two goals which put the Seawolves up 3-1 through 20 minutes. Palmieri scored again about 13 minutes into the second, and freshman defenseman Dominic Molfetto’s fourth of the year put Stony Brook up 5-2 at the end of the period. The Rams gave some resistance in the first half of the third with a pair of goals, but they were unable to slow down the Seawolves, who lit the lamp four more times before the end of regulation. Junior defenseman Brendan Pepe notched the first of the four, followed by a pair from freshman forward Ian Keller. Rinaldo finished off the scoring with under three minutes remaining in regulation, securing a 9-4 win and a series sweep.
