Seawolves split weekend series with #2 ASU!

Number 6th ranked Stony Brook faced their toughest opponent yet this past weekend taking on the number 2 ranked team in the country, Arizona State. The Arizona State Sun Devils have won the past three games between these two teams with the most recent at last years National Championship semi-final game. During that game, Arizona State went on to score two late goals in the third period, beating Stony Brook 4-3.
This past Saturday night in front of a Stony Brook sellout crowd the Sun Devils were outshot, but capitalized on every mistake the Seawolves made and won the game 4-0.
Sunday’s game started off ugly for the Seawolves. The first period was filled with penalties for Stony Brook which resulted in two power play goals and one even strength goal. This left the Seawolves at a 3-1 deficit going into the second period. However, Stony Brook battled back in the second and third periods scoring five unanswered goals to beat the Sun Devils 6-3. The next time these two teams will play one another will be in January at ASU.
This upcoming weekend the Seawolves will travel south to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on 11th ranked, Liberty University.
